Bangladesh produced a stunning all-round display as Nahid Rana’s fiery pace and Tanzid Hasan’s power-hitting handed them a commanding 8-wicket victory over Pakistan in the ODI series opener at Mirpur.

Bangladesh chased down 115 in just 15.1 overs, their biggest win by wickets and balls remaining against Pakistan.

It all began with Rana on Wednesday, whose seven-over spell ripped through Pakistan’s fragile lineup at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old quickly struck in each of his first five overs, sending Pakistan tumbling to 114 in 30.4 overs.

Debutants Sahibzada Farhan and Maaz Sadaqat had put together a cautious 41-run opening stand before Rana dismissed Farhan with a length ball to point.

Shamyl Hussain was next, top-edging a bouncer to Litton Das, while Sadaqat fell to another short ball as Pakistan slumped from 41 for 0 to 55 for 3.

Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha offered brief resistance, with Rizwan pulling off a superb boundary, only to be lured into a drive and caught behind.

Salman fended a short delivery to short leg, where Tanzid completed a juggling catch.

Rana’s searing 148.6kph delivery to Faheem Ashraf and continued thunderbolts left Pakistan reeling.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz added three wickets, while Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman chipped in to bundle Pakistan out in the 31st over.

Faheem Ashraf top-scored with 37, adding 32 for the last wicket with Abrar Ahmed.

Chasing the measly target, Bangladesh lost Saif Hassan early to Shaheen Shah Afridi, but Tanzid and Najmul Hossain Shanto combined in a brisk second-wicket stand of 82.

Tanzid attacked from the outset, striking 7 fours and 5 sixes off Faheem, Wasim, Abrar, and Agha, reaching a scintillating fifty off just 32 balls.

Shanto supported with 27 runs, finding boundaries off Afridi and Wasim, until he edged one to the keeper.

By the 10th over, Bangladesh were 81 for 1, their second-highest score after the first powerplay against Pakistan in ODIs.

Tanzid’s unbeaten 42-ball 67 anchored the chase, ensuring a dominant, record-breaking win for the Tigers in a match that showcased both raw pace and aggressive strokeplay.
