An array of 38 programmes were featured, including academic dialogues, industry engagements, student-led initiatives, exhibitions, and performances.

Guests and speakers included senior government officials, development and research experts, international academics, diplomats, and industry leaders.

Notable participants included Ali Ashfaq, FCA former partner, KPMG Bangladesh; Rakibul Hasan, deputy chief conservator of forests (DCCF); Sheikh Rokon, writer and river researcher; Md Shahid Uddin Akbar, CEO of BIID; Dr Zheng Li of East China Normal University; Han Kun, country head, PowerChina Bangladesh; Olle Lundin, head of politics and trade, Swedish Embassy; Sumit Bisarya, head of constitutional governance and rule of law at International IDEA, Stockholm, Sweden; Ariful Hasan Opu, CEO e-Soft.

Speaking about the initiative, Prof Shamsad Mortuza, vice chancellor of ULAB, said: “Earth Day is not just a symbolic observance, but a call to action.

“Through this three-day programme, we aimed to create meaningful dialogue and inspire our students and community to take responsibility for building a sustainable future.”

Cultural performances and live concerts for fostering awareness, dialogue, and community engagement were also part of proceedings.

“Through this initiative, ULAB reaffirmed its commitment to environmental responsibility and a sustainable future,” the statement said.
