American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) has posted a strong result at the ICPC Asia West Continent Finals 2025, with its team “AIUB Modularity” finishing third among Bangladeshi teams and 35th overall.
The result marks a notable achievement for the university in the history of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), the university said in a statement.
The competition was organised by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) on Mar 7 and Mar 8, 2026.
One of the world’s biggest programming contests, the ICPC is regarded as a major platform for testing and improving students’ problem-solving and computing skills.
Among Bangladeshi universities, AIUB Modularity finished behind only Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).
The team also outperformed entries from several leading universities in Bangladesh, including Khulna University of Engineering and Technology, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology, Dhaka University, Chittagong University, Islamic University of Technology, Jahangirnagar University, BRAC University, Daffodil International University and East West University.
AIUB said its team also finished ahead of 21 teams from India and all participating teams from Pakistan.
Earlier, AIUB Modularity had placed 20th at the ICPC Dhaka Regional Onsite Competition 2026, earning qualification for the Asia West Continent Finals.
The team members are Faisal Amin Abir, Shamin Yasir and Ahnaf Tanvir Tasin, all students of AIUB’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
They were coached by AIUB ACM ICPC trainers Israfil Diganta and Abdullah Al Rawaha Anik.
Assistant professors Abhijit Bhowmik and Md Al-Amin from the Department of Computer Science also provided guidance to the team.
Each year, students from different countries take part in ICPC competitions across Asia, where they compete in programming and build connections through academic exchange and teamwork.
