Marjan Akter Monika, squash coach at Independent University, Bangladesh, has achieved the Level-2 certification under the World Squash Federation after completing a six-day training programme in Dhaka.
The Level-2 certification is an intermediate coaching qualification awarded by WSF, designed for coaches with prior training and experience.
It enables them to work with developing and competitive players while advancing towards higher-level coaching standards.
The Division of Student Activities (DoSA) of IUB, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Squash Rackets Federation, hosted the “WSF Level-2 Squash Coaching Course 2026” from Apr 20 to Apr 26 at IUB and other venues in Dhaka.
The event involved coaches from multiple countries and focused on building professional coaching capacity through structured training.
Morning sessions were held at the IUB Squash Court from Apr 20 to Apr 25.
Additional sessions took place at Bashundhara Sports City, while the course concluded at the Army Squash Complex in Dhaka on Apr 26.
At the closing ceremony, State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque handed over certificates to participants.
The course was conducted by Maj S Maniam, lead tutor of WSF from Malaysia, with Fazle Wali Ahmed serving as assistant tutor.
Participants included coaches from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Malaysia and Hong Kong.
The programme was inaugurated on Apr 20 at IUB by Prof M Tamim, vice-chancellor of the university.
Brig Gn Quamrul Islam (Retd), general secretary of the Bangladesh Squash Rackets Federation, along with officials, participants and squash players, attended the session.
The training covered coaching techniques, match analysis, physical conditioning and rules through both practical and classroom-based sessions.
Organisers said the course aimed to build certified coaching capacity and strengthen squash training standards through international collaboration, with plans to continue similar initiatives.
