Dhaka, Mar 25 (bdnews24.com) — Country's largest private carrier GMG Airlines, owned by the industrial conglomerate Beximco, is going to include another Boeing 767 to its fleet by July.
The 273-seater will fly daily on Dhaka-Dammam-Dhaka, Dhaka-Dubai-Dhaka and Dhaka-Doha-Dhaka routes, said a GMG press release on Friday.
GMG recently signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) in Singapore with AWAS, a leading aircraft-leasing company, to take the aircraft on lease, scheduled to arrive in July.
With the addition of the latest one, GMG will have three Boeing 767 aircraft. Presently, the GMG fleet has eight planes.
Managing director of GMG Airlines Shahab Sattar said, "Adding the new plane will help GMG serve the growing number of passengers on Dhaka-Dammam and Dhaka-Doha routes. This is in line with our stated business plan."
The company plans to expand its fleet to fly more routes, aiming to become the most-preferred airline in the region, he added.
GMG started operations on April 6, 1998 with domestic services and launched international flights in September 2004, starting with Chittagong-Kolkata flights
With nine international and five domestic destinations, GMG operates over 230 flights a week.
GMG's international destinations include Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Kathmandu, Kolkata, Karachi, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Damam, Doha, Jeddah and Riyadh. In domestic flies Dhaka, Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Sylhet and Jessore.
It now operates with three Canadian Bombardier Dash-8 on domestic and Kolkata routes. Besides, it has two Boeing 767-300 and three McDonnell Douglas aircraft for regional operation.
