“We have seen the copy of the court’s verdict in multiple websites. We have learned that the document is of the law ministry,” said Farhat Quader Chowdhury reacting to Tuesday’s verdict.
She said he had downloaded a copy of the verdict and matched it while the verdict that was read out.
“We are astounded to see how judges can read a copy from the law ministry,” she said.
The ICT-1, set up to try those accused of committing crimes against humanity, ordered that Chowdhury be hanged to death for committing genocide, murders and atrocities on Hindus, Awami League supporters and those who had stood up for independence.
“I know that we won’t get justice,” said Farhat. “But we will go though the entire process. We will file an appeal and see who are there to judge it.”
The war crimes convict’s sister, Hasina Zabil Sinha, also claimed to have seen the verdict on the Internet. “So there is no cause for reactions now,” she said.
But she said “of course there is injustice here. I am saying what you, too, would say if it was your brother who was to be hanged”
“The judges think they delivered justice, and they believe their verdict reflects justice, so I have to accept it,” said SQ Chy’s brother Jamaluddin Quader Chowdhury.
“What difference does it make if I call it injustice?”
