Dhaka, Dec 22 (BDNEWS) – From nowhere, he has come a long way to become the Close Up 1, 2005 for the first time. And Bangladesh was eagerly waiting to have him as the newest star in the sky of its music world.
He is Nolok Babu. From the tiny roads of Jamalpur district to the stage in Dhaka, he stood straight. He is Nolok Babu.
After a long hurdle of seven months and much of the check and crosschecks by the three judges from outside the podium, as well as, sms messages and online voters feathered him.
However, finally the best judges were mass people who sent sms and voted for Nolok Babu online awarding him 785,391 votes to become Close Up 1 'Close up one – Tomakei Khujchhe Bangladesh'. Finally, he got a total 91 marks.
He never received any formal training or had any knowledge about the grammar of music. Music is in his heart.
Nolok Babu received Tk 10 lakh and a Nissan Sunny car apart from other prizes.
At a colourful award-giving function held at the Hotel Sonargaon Thursday evening, where Razib, believed to be the most competent candidate getting the highest vote from the panel of three judges, came to become the first runner up by bagging 313,946 from the sms messages and online voters.
Beauty, the "Lalan Konnya" (Daughter of Lalan), was sad at the concluding ceremony as her family members met a tragic road accident on way to Dhaka Wednesday night at Jhenidah. But, she became the second runner up bagging 320,328 votes from sms messages and online voters.
The final round of 'Close up one – Tomakei Khujchhe Bangladesh', a highly acclaimed star search programme, organised by the NTV ended on the night of great Victory Day.
Regular judges -- Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul, Kumar Biswajit and Samina Chowdhury made their last judgement requesting the new stars to continue their practice to rich the Bangla music.
Chairman of NTV Mosaddek Ali Falu, MP, Country Director of Unilever Sanjeev Mehta, Asiatic Marketing Communications CEO Aly Zaker and deputy managing director Asaduzzaman Noor, MP, were present at the award giving ceremony and handed over the prizes.
The programme, arranged by Unilever and NTV following the theme of 'Indian Idol', a popular programme of an Indian channel, attracted huge attention. But the method of vote collection through SMS and counting, adopted by the authorities, were not completely perfect, many people argued.
