Dhaka, Dec 6 (bdnews24.com) - Just a few hours after the interim authority Wednesday forced cabinet secretary Abu Solaiman Chowdhury into retirement, a new circular said he retired on his own.
The circular released by the establishment ministry said Chowdhury retired after 25 years in service and "wished to do so for personal reasons".
The first circular on forced retirement was cancelled after Chowdhury appealed to President Iajuddin Ahmed for retirement.
The chief adviser's principal secretary Ali Imam Majumdar was made cabinet secretary.
The decision came two days after adviser Mahbubul Alam said the interim government ordered a shuffle of several election-sensitive posts in the civil service as part of a so-called package of proposals.
The council of advisers came up with a host of offers for two bickering alliances to put an immediate end to lingering political gridlock.
Establishment secretary AFM Solaiman Chowdhury took the reins of the National Board of Revenue. He will also work as secretary of the Internal Resources Division.
Nobody has yet to fill the vacancy at the establishment ministry, left by Solaiman Chowdhury's transfer.
The government transferred Zahurul Islam from the home ministry to make him environment and forest secretary. NBR chairman Abdul Karim moved to the home ministry as secretary.
Environment and forest secretary Barrister Muhammad Haider Ali ended up as OSD at the establishment ministry.
The government posted additional secretary of NBR ATM Sarwar Hossain to the Planning Commission as member.
