The Bangladesh Army has said using military stickers on vehicles to assist political parties with transport is "not appropriate and violates regulations”.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) rejected social media claims that the Army had provided buses to support a political rally.
“This is entirely false, misleading and a deliberate attempt to damage the Army’s reputation,” it read.
Clarifying the matter, the military’s media wing said some private buses were temporarily hired from outside sources to transport students at Army-run institutions.
“Often, these buses temporarily display ‘Bangladesh Army’ stickers or logos,” it added.
The ISPR pointed out that certain transport operators continue to use the Army’s name or logo even after contracts end, describing the act as “unauthorised and illegal”.
“This is done to gain informal advantage on the road,” it said.
The statement warned that some groups were “attempting to drag the military into controversies through misinformation”.
The ISPR urged the public to avoid spreading unverified content and advised all citizens to cross-check facts before sharing anything on social media.
