The Ayat College of Nursing and Health Sciences has held its Capping, Oath-Taking and Farewell Ceremony at the Bangla Academy in Dhaka.
Newly enrolled students of BSc in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, and Diploma in Midwifery attended alongside graduating BSc Nursing students, a media statement read.
On Saturday, freshers marked the start of their professional journey, while graduates bid an emotional farewell.
The event was attended by distinguished guests, including Mohammad Abdus Salam Khan, additional secretary of the health ministry, as chief guest; Max Tuñón, country director of the International Labour Organization; Zareen Mahmud Hosein, founder of HerStory Foundation; Nusrat Feroz Aman, CEO of Ayat Education; and Tahsin Aman, chairperson of Ayat Education.

In their speeches, the guests emphasised the value and potential of nursing. Salam praised nurses’ contribution to Bangladesh’s healthcare system and urged service with sincerity. Tuñón highlighted the global demand for skilled nurses and the importance of international standards.
Zareen inspired students, saying: “Nursing is the future of the country”, and urged them to face challenges with courage and uphold care as a gift to the world. Tahsin encouraged students to serve humanity with compassion and act as ambassadors of Ayat.
The programme included heartfelt farewell messages and cultural performances. Taslima Begum, principal of Ayat College, discussed the evolving role of nurses, stressing clinical practice, empathy, and patient care.
The ceremony concluded with the capping, oath-taking, and farewell segment, marking a new chapter for freshers and celebrating graduates’ successful journey.
