The Public Service Commission (PSC) has released the special 48th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) notice for the appointment of 3,000 doctors to public sector posts.

Under this BCS exam, 2,700 vacancies for assistant surgeons and 300 for assistant dental surgeons will be filled.

The notification was published on the PSC’s website on Thursday. PSC spokesperson SM Matiur Rahman confirmed the matter.

Previously, around 9,000 doctors were recruited to public sector posts through the special 39th and 42nd BCS examinations.

According to the notification, online applications and fee submissions for the special 48th BCS exam will be open from 10am Jun 1 to 6pm Jun 25.

The fee has been set at Tk 200 for regular applicants and Tk 50 for those from underprivileged groups. The maximum age limit for applicants is 32 years.

The written MCQ (multiple-choice questions) exam is likely to be held in the second week of July, the notice read.

The special BCS exam will be held on 300 marks in total. Of this, 200 marks will be for the written test, while the remaining 100 marks will be for the viva test.

Out of the 200 marks, 100 marks will be allocated to the subject related to the candidate’s position and the rest for general topics.

The test will feature 200 questions over a duration of two hours. Each correct MCQ answer will carry 1 mark, and for each wrong answer, 0.50 marks will be deducted. Candidates will need to score at least 50 in the viva exam to pass.
