The interim government has sent five secretaries into compulsory retirement, citing “public interest” after they completed 25 years of service.
Separate notifications issued by the public administration ministry on Thursday said the decision was made in accordance with government service regulations.
The officials affected include:
Kazi Enamul Hasan, Director General of the Bangladesh Employees Welfare Board
Sukesh Kumar Sarker, Director General of the National Academy for Planning and Development
Muhammad Ibrahim, Chairman of the Land Appeal Board
Md Shahid Ullah, Rector of the National Academy for Development Administration
Mohammad Salah Uddin, Secretary (currently Officer on Special Duty)
In addition, Lipika Bhadra, Chairman of Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation (Grade-1), has also been placed on compulsory retirement.
The government notices mentioned that the officers will receive retirement benefits as per existing regulations.
This move comes as part of a broader reshuffle in the civil administration since the formation of the interim government. Several senior officials have already been sent into early retirement, while others have been brought back and reappointed on contractual terms.
