Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has sent a letter to UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressing solidarity with the country amid the ongoing war in the Middle East.
Tarique’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Humayun Kabir handed over the letter to UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan during a meeting in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.
The two sides discussed issues of bilateral interest as well as the Middle East war, the country's state news agency, Emirates News Agency, said in a report.
The news outlet wrote, “HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Kabir strongly condemned and denounced these unprovoked and terrorist Iranian missile attacks. They affirmed the right of the countries targeted by these assaults to take all necessary measures to protect their sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the safety of their citizens, residents, and visitors, in accordance with the provisions of international law.”
The report said, “Furthermore, Kabir affirmed the full solidarity of Bangladesh with the UAE, supporting all measures taken to maintain its security and stability.”
Abdullah thanked Humayun for Bangladesh’s support to the UAE. He also reiterated the UAE's commitment to strengthening constructive cooperation with Bangladesh.
He said such cooperation would serve the mutual interests of both countries and help their people achieve development and sustainable economic prosperity.
UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Bangladesh Ambassador to the UAE Tareq Ahmed and other high-ranking officials from both countries also attended the meeting.
