Controversial singer Mainul Ahsan Noble has secured bail just a day after being arrested on charges of embezzling Tk 1.3 million and attempting to film a woman against her will.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Raju Ahmed granted him bail on Tuesday on condition of a settlement, according to complainant’s lawyer Sajidul Islam.
Noble was arrested on Monday afternoon in Narayanganj’s Siddhirganj under a court-issued warrant, according to Demra Police Station chief Md Taifur Rahman Mirza.
Police said the case was filed in August 2025 after the young woman claimed that Noble, “promising marriage”, had detained her in his studio and pressured her into producing objectionable photos and videos.
Following investigation, the Police Bureau of Investigation submitted a chargesheet on Feb 2.
On the same day, a warrant was issued for Noble’s arrest, and he was taken into custody by Demra police.
Earlier, on May 19 last year, an Eden College student had lodged a case against the singer under the rape, torture and pornography laws, for which police had arrested him at Demra Staff Quarter.
On Jun 19, in a mutual settlement, Noble married the complainant in court, paying Tk 1 million, and was subsequently released on bail.
He, however, faced a new case as the complainant remained unsatisfied.
The chargesheet submitted on Nov 29 alleged that Noble had raped the complainant, recorded videos of the acts, and physically assaulted her while under the influence of drugs.
The singer, who rose to fame as the second runner-up in the 2019 Indian reality show “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa”, has frequently dominated headlines for drug addiction, domestic abuse, and provocative social media posts.
In May 2023, he was arrested for failing to perform at a concert despite taking an advance payment, though he got bail shortly after.
His public performances have also been marred by controversy.
In April 2023, audience members at Kurigram’s Phulbari Degree College threw shoes and water bottles at him due to his “erratic behaviour”on stage, forcing the event to be called off.
Despite repeated claims in the media that he has returned to a "normal" life, this latest arrest adds another chapter to his ongoing legal troubles.
