The four-day annual Deputy Commissioners’ (DC) conference is set to begin on Sunday, marking the first such meeting since the BNP government took office following the general election.
Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Ghani and Additional Secretary Md Humayun Kabir shared details of the event during a press briefing at the Secretariat on Saturday.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to inaugurate the conference at 10:30am at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium.
A total of 498 proposals submitted by divisional commissioners and DCs have been shortlisted for discussion out of 1,729 initially received.
These proposals prioritise public service improvements, healthcare expansion, infrastructure development, tourism promotion, and legal reforms.
"The highest number of proposals -- 44 in total -- pertain to the Health Services Division," said Humayun.
The conference, which has been extended to four days from last year's three, will feature 34 sessions, including 30 working sessions.
It serves as a vital platform for direct communication between the government and field administration.
Throughout the event, DCs will meet with the president, the speaker, and the chief justice.
Specialised sessions are also scheduled with the chief election commissioner and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
A total of 56 ministries and divisions, along with the Prime Minister's Office and two commissions, will participate.
Reviewing the previous year’s progress, Humayun noted that under the interim government, 400 decisions were taken during the 2025 conference, with an overall implementation rate of 44 percent.
