The Alim English Second Paper and Thursday’s scheduled exams under HSC Vocational, BMT, and Diploma in Commerce programmes have been postponed nationwide due to flooding in Cumilla.

Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan, controller of examinations at the Bangkladesh Madrasah Education Board, confirmed the suspension on Wednesday night.

“Our board conducts exams centrally. Since there is no provision to suspend exams for a single region, the Alim English Second Paper exam has been postponed across the country,” he told bdnews24.com.

Md Abul Kalam Azad, controller of examinations at the Bangladesh Technical Education Board, also confirmed the suspension of Thursday’s HSC vocational, BMT, Diploma in Commerce, and other higher secondary level exams.

“The rest of the exams will continue as per the existing schedule,” he added.

According to the original timetable, Thursday's exams were to include:

• HSC BM-BMT: Office Management (Class XII), Economics Second Paper and Commercial Geography (Class XI)

• HSC Vocational: Trade-1 Second Paper (Class XII), Trade-1 First Paper (Class XI)

• Diploma in Commerce: Business Organisation (Class XII), Office Management and Automation (Class XI)

Earlier, only the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Cumilla had suspended Thursday’s HSC exams due to the worsening flood situation.

Runa Nasrin, controller of examinations for the Cumilla board, said the new exam date will be announced later.

The exams due that day included the first paper of Physics (theory) for the science stream, first paper of Accounting for business studies, and first paper of Logic for humanities.
