The education authorities have ordered the payment of salaries and allowances for principals, headteachers, and other staff of MPO-registered private institutions who were forced to resign.
On Tuesday, the ministry’s Secondary and Higher Education Division sent a letter to the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) with the directive.
The letter said although investigations are ongoing into teachers and staff who resigned under pressure, many of them have not been receiving their salaries and allowances. They have highlighted in applications that this has made their lives extremely difficult.
The division said it is “necessary” to continue their salaries and benefits until the allegations are resolved.
It also instructed the inclusion of these teachers and staff in the Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) system to ensure uninterrupted payment.
The DSHE has been told to take action against any officer or authority who creates obstruction or refuses to cooperate.
Following the fall of the Awami League government last year, many teachers at different levels were forced to resign from institutions across Bangladesh, which left them without pay.
The education ministry had issued two separate orders in January to ensure their salaries remain active.
An office order was also issued, calling for quick submission of reports on forced resignations from private institutions.
