However, Razia Sultana, Lopa’s mother, has expressed doubts whether the ‘actual cause’ of her daughter’s death will be revealed after the re-autopsy.
The body was exhumed in the presence of an executive magistrate from the Banani Cemetery on Thursday following Razia’s petition.
The body was buried again at noon after the second round of postmortem was conducted at 9am in the Mitford Hospital on Friday, said Razia.
The medical board formed for the postmortem was headed by Sir Salimullah Medical College’s forensic department head Palak Kumar Chakrabarty.
“A doctor of the Dhaka Medical was in the board. I had my doubts over the autopsy report of the Dhaka Medical. I’ve seen a Dhaka Medical teacher here too. So I am not optimistic about finding something crucial this time too,” she told bdnews24.com.
The body of Lopa, widely known for playing ‘Tuni’ in Humayun Ahmed’s television drama - 'Ei Shob Dinratri', was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her in-laws home in Dhaka’s Gulshan area on Oct 16.
Razia Sultana filed a case accusing the actress’ husband, Ali Amin, and both of his parents.
The report of Lopa’s autopsy said the 35-year-old had committed suicide but Razia rejected the finding and pleaded for re-examination.
Dhaka’s Deputy Commissioner accepted her plea and ordered the body to be exhumed on Nov 26.
Lopa’s husband Amin was arrested soon after the case was filed. He claimed he was outside when Lopa hung herself over a fight they were having for the ownership of their Gulshan apartment.
But Razia Sultana said Amin was a drug addict, who used to physically assault Lopa regularly, while his parents ‘indulged’ him.
She claimed her daughter was suffocated to death and then hung her body from the ceiling fan anytime between 2:30pm and 3pm, said the case details.
