The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered 120,000 yaba pills buried near a house in Cox's Bazar's Teknaf Upazila.
On Saturday, Teknaf-2 BGB Battalion Commander Lt Col Md Ashiqur Rahman said the drugs were recovered from Noakhali Para on Friday night.
A young man, allegedly a drug trafficker, has been arrested.
The arrested, Md Ismail, 32, is a resident of the Dargarchhara area of Sadar Union.
Lt Col Ashiqur said on Saturday, “The BGB and police conducted a raid after receiving information that a large consignment of drugs was being brought from Myanmar to Noakhali Para by sea.
“First, a raid was carried out at the house of a suspected drug dealer in Dargarchhara. Although some tried to escape sensing law enforcers, one person was arrested.
“Later, with the help of the BGB dog squad, 120,000 yaba pills were recovered, buried in the ground next to the house of the drug dealer Taher."
This special anti-drug drive reflects the BGB’s strict and zero tolerance policy on border security and crime control, he added.
“A case has been filed with the Teknaf Police Station under the relevant law against the three arrested and absconding individuals.”
