The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority, or BRTA, has resumed all services now that its server is operational once again.
On Monday, the BRTA issued an urgent notification stating: “Now that the server and IS installed in the BRTA building are operational, services related to motor vehicle registration, transfer of ownership, fitness, tax-token and route permits, updating or renewing driving license, driving license tests, advance payment of income tax, etc are active again. Under the circumstances, all concerned are requested to contact the BRTA circle office to avail relevant services immediately.”
BRTA Chairman Gautam Kumar Saha told bdnews24.com: “Our server was activated on Sunday. We did not face any issues yesterday, so we have resumed operations in full swing across the country today. We issued a notification about this today.”
During the complete shutdown programme, the BRTA headquarters in the capital’s Banani was vandalised on Jul 18. On that day, the BRTA’s Dhaka Divisional and Dhaka North Circle offices were also attacked in Mirpur.
The following day, the BRTA’s head office was set on fire, damaging the central data centre.
The next day, attackers set fire to the Mirpur officer’s VIC.
BRTA services were halted across Bangladesh following the attacks.
