Shafiq Uddin Ahmed Ahnaf was killed in a clash during the student movement against discrimination in public service job quotas. The victim was an eleventh grader at BAF Shaheen College Dhaka.

Everyone returned to classes after the reopening of the college along with other educational institutions across the country after a month of closure on Sunday, but not their favourite peer Ahnaf.

A bouquet was placed on a front-row seat in his memory. The observance went viral on Facebook.

An image shared on social media shows the students paying tribute to Ahnaf by placing the bouquet on the table. He was supposed to sit the HSC exam in 2025.

He was vocal from the start of the quota reform movement. He had returned home once after being injured by tear gas shells and rubber bullets while taking part in the movement.

Ahnaf was shot dead in a clash between police and the protesters in the capital’s Mirpur-10 on Aug 4. Earlier on Aug 8, a memorial event was held for him in the college, joined by the teachers and students of the institution.
