Government promotes 268 civil servants to deputy secretary

Of them, 192 are from the administration cadre

The government has promoted 268 civil servants from different cadres, including 192 from the administration cadre, to the rank of deputy secretary.

Two separate gazette notifications were issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Thursday announcing the promotions.

One notification promoted six officials of the BCS (Foreign Service) cadre, who are currently serving as first secretaries in different Bangladesh missions abroad.

The other notification named 262 officials, including 192 from the BCS (Administration) cadre, seven from the agriculture cadre, four from the Ansar cadre, four from the audit and accounts cadre, one from the cooperatives cadre, four from the customs and excise cadre, 12 from the general education cadre, and three from the fisheries cadre.

Along with that, four officials from the food cadre, four from the information cadre, two from the livestock cadre, one from the police cadre, two from the postal cadre, two from the public health engineering cadre, three from the public works cadre, three from the railway cadre, three from the roads and highways cadre, four from the statistics cadre, two from the taxation cadre, four from the telecommunications cadre and one from the trade cadre were promoted.

The notification said if any “adverse or different” information is found against any official in the future, necessary amendments or cancellations of the order may follow.

Deputy secretary appointees can submit their joining letters directly to the senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration or by email at [email protected], according to the circular.
