Dhaka, May 28 (bdnews24.com) – M A Muhit, the second Bangladeshi to reach the summit of the world's highest mountain Mount Everest, has returned to the country.
He reached Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka aboard BG-0702 flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at 4:45pm on Saturday.
Muhit became the second Bangladeshi to climb the world's highest mountain peak on May 21.
Muhit, a member of Bangla Mountaineering and Trekking Club (BMTC), told bdnews24.com, "That day when I climbed the summit of Everest, it seemed to me that I am the king. I have taken Bangladesh to the highest point of the world."
The 41-year-old marketing executive of a non-government organisation hails from Bhola district.
Muhit started his journey to climb the 8,848-metre-high Mount Everest with Musa Ibrahim, the first Bangladeshi to reach the summit of Mount Everest, on May 23 last year. But he had to suspend his effort due to rough weather there.
Musa is the general secretary of North Alpine Club Bangladesh, a Bangladeshi mountaineering club. He also serves as the sub-editor of English national daily 'The Daily Star'.
