State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam took part in the funeral prayer along with a host of friends, well-wishers and Bangladeshi expatriates in London.  The state minister is now in London to attend an international conference.

"Annis Bhai was a very popular person. He contributed to the country's arts and cultural sector. As a business leader he took Bangladesh's apparel industry to a new height," Shahriar said after the Janaza.

He also said as mayor, Annisul did not bow down to anyone and took firm decisions to build a better Dhaka.

Annisul Huq's body will be flown to Dhaka in a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight on Saturday morning, according to the city corporation.

He will be buried at the Banani Graveyard after another funeral prayer at the Army Stadium in the afternoon the same day.
