Eight firearms recovered during the crackdown in the last 24 hours, says Police Headquarters

A total of 591 people have been arrested on the fourth day of the ongoing nationwide crackdown, Operation Devil Hunt, according to the Police Headquarters.
It also confirmed the recovery of eight firearms, ammunition, and locally made weapons in the last 24 hours, in a statement sent on Wednesday evening.
In addition, 1,095 suspects were arrested under other cases and warrants during the same period, bringing the total number of arrests to 1,686.
However, police did not specify the charges for those arrested in the special operation.
On the fourth day, police recovered a pistol, a Chinese rifle, two LGs, four one-shooter guns, 20 rounds of ammunition, and 20 crude bombs.
The list of recovered items also includes knives, swords, hammers, pliers, machetes, and iron pipes.
On the third day, 607 people were arrested, bringing the total to 1,775 by the end of that period.
Earlier, on Sunday, the police had reported 1,308 arrests in the first 24 hours of the nationwide crackdown, but did not specify how many of these were linked to the operation.
The interim government initiated the operation following an attack on the home of former Liberation War affairs minister AKM Mozammel Haque in Gazipur on Friday night, during which several people were injured and property was damaged.
The special operation, targeting "instigators of instability", was launched by joint forces on Saturday evening.
It involves the army, navy, air force, police, Border Guard Bangladesh, or BGB, Ansar, and Coast Guard personnel, Inspector General of Police Baharul Alam confirmed.
