Dhaka, Feb 19 (BDNEWS) – Deputy Leader of the Opposition advocate Abdul Hamid Saturday said the killing of a police personnel at Nalitabari in Sherpur during February 6 hartal was an act of a third party.
"Our investigation revealed that a third party killed the policeman to shift the responsibility on Awami League," he told a press conference at his Sangsad Bhaban office elaborating the findings of an opposition parliamentary enquiry.
The seven-member enquiry committee, headed by advocate Hamid, visited the spot Thursday and took the spot accounts.
Quoting the witnesses, the Opposition Deputy Leader said police went on a massive vandalism on the houses of Awami League leaders and workers on February 7.
He blamed Whip of the Sangsad, Zahed Ali Chowdhury for instigating the police to conduct the atrocities.
He regretted that police, who are supposed to enforce law, carried out such a violent acts on the houses of the opposition leaders and workers.
Hamid also said that proper enquiry will not take place into the entire incident if it is conducted by police. He demanded a judicial enquiry into the Sherpur incident.
