Android users can download the app, BD Police Help Line, from Play Store, and it will be soon available at Apple's App Store, said Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque.

He launched the app on Thursday at the Bangladesh Police headquarters.

Citizens will be able to report any incident to the local police station's officer-in-charge (OC) through the app, he said.

“It will automatically reach the additional superintendent of police, superintendent of police, range DIG and police headquarters at district levels and zonal additional commissioner, additional commissioner and commissioner in cases of metropolitan police,” he said.

“The top officers will also get notifications when the OC is informed, so they can monitor updates,” said the Bangladesh Police chief.

The app would work as an ‘interactive interface’ between the citizens and the police, he added.

He said all inspectors have been instructed to use smartphones to use the app.
