He spoke about Khaleda’s assessment of Modi at a discussion at the National Press Club on Wednesday.
Modi had a meeting with Khaleda on June 7 during his maiden visit to Bangladesh as the Indian prime minister.
BNP leaders attending the meeting said they also had one-on-one talks for around 15 minutes.
The party leaders had earlier complained that India was behind the Awami League government’s holding of the Jan 5 general elections that the BNP had chosen to boycott.
The party, however, began praising Modi once he took office as the prime minister.
After her meeting with Modi, Khaleda told reporters ‘the discussions have been nice’ but declined to elaborate.
BNP leaders could not say anything about what the two discussed.
Ahmed said on Wednesday: “I went to the office of the leader (Khaleda) to see her last night. I wanted to know about the discussions. She highly praised Narendra Modi.”
“I asked her if she found any differences between the incumbent Indian prime minister and past (prime ministers) Manmohan Singh, Rajiv Gandhi and others. She told me that he (Modi) seemed sincere.”
“Hearing his (Modi's) statements, I also personally think he is a bit sincere,” said the BNP vice-chairman.
