Shocked over the brutal gang rape of a 71-year-old nun in West Bengal’s Nadia district, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday asked for a detailed report from Mamata Banerjee led West Bengal government.

He also sought report from Haryana government on church attack in Hisar.
There has been a spate of attacks on minority communities across the country since the BJP has come to power.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is deeply concerned about the incidents in Hisar, Haryana and Nadia, West Bengal...PMO has asked for immediate report on facts and action taken regarding the incidents in Haryana and West Bengal,” a statement issued from the prime minister’s office said.
The 71-year-old elderly nun of a convent school was gang-raped by some unknown assailants in Ranaghat town, some 80 km from Kolkata, early on Saturday.
She had to undergo a surgery following the serious injuries she received during the incident.
Although, police blamed a gang of robbers, they are yet to arrest the culprits.
The laxity on the part of police department has drawn flak from various quarters.
The culprits are yet to be nabbed even though the CCTV footage has captured their image.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee ordered a CID inquiry into the incident.
In the other incident, an under-construction church in Kaimri village in Haryana’s Hisar district was attacked and vandalized by miscreants on Mar 6. The idol of a Hindu God was also placed inside the premises.
Police detained 14 people for rioting, damaging the place of worship, theft and promoting enmity following a complaint lodged by the church priest on Mar 13.
