The Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Tuesday said both sides discussed possible areas of cooperation under an MoU signed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit in June last year.

Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority’s Executive Member SM Shawkat Ali led his side, while Ministry of External Affairs’ Joint Secretary Sripriya Ranganathan led the Indian delegation.

Discussions pertained to cooperation in the modalities or framework to set up Indian Economic Zones in places such as Bheramera and IT SEZs in Keraniganj and Mirsarai for “mutual benefit”.

Both sides agreed on regular meetings to monitor the progress, the High Commission said.

The Indian delegation called on the BEZA Executive Chairman Paban Chowdhury after the meeting.
