Bangladesh poverty rate has dropped to 24.7%, says government minister
The government says the poverty rate is declining while the average life expectancy rate is increasing in Bangladesh.

At present the poverty rate is 24.7 percent, according to a 2014 estimate, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal told Parliament on Thursday.
The rate was 31.5 percent in 2010, he said citing a Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics figure while replying to a question.
Kamal said the average life expectancy in Bangladesh was 70.1 years in 2013, up from 69 years in 2011.
