The clash erupted when police tried to disperse protestors from a street at Kattherpool area of Fatulla in Narayanganj.
The workers took shelter in nearby buildings of the area and pelted stones at police from there.
The police retaliated by firing rubber-bullets and lobbing tear-gas shells.
Earlier at around 10.30am, workers of some factories in Fatulla's Shibu market area blocked the Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road bringing the traffic to a halt.
The workers protested by setting burning tyres on the road, but there was no report of violence.
Police said they are maintaining strict vigil to avert any untoward incident.
"We are negotiating with the protestors to leave the highway," ASP Abdullah Al Masum of Fatulla police told bdnews24.com.
Workers had blocked the Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road and damaged vehicles in the last two days.
After five days' of unrest most of RMG factories in the country resumed production on Thursday.
But a section of RMG workers in Gazipur, Ashulia and Narayanganj are still protesting.
