Polytechnic Institute students in Comilla set fire to a government official's car on Sunday.

Around 1pm, while agitating for their 2-point charter of demands on the Comilla-Kotbari Road, the students also set alight a motorcycle and went on the rampage at the Bijoypur Union Council office.
Witnesses say the clashes left 15 injured including 5 policemen.
Assistant Superintendent of Comilla police Jahangir Alam said the students gathered in front of the Polytechnic Institute in the morning and started protesting.
The students set fire to the official vehicle of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Fatema Jahan along with another motorbike.
Police had to fire rubber-bullets and lob tear gas canisters to bring the situation under control.
Polytechnic Institute students across the country are protesting for the last few days.
They want the government to increase promotion quota of diploma engineers from 33 to 50 percent and end discrimination in salary structure.
They also want diploma engineers to described as ‘supervisor engineers’
Polytechnic students in Dhaka, Chittagong, Patuakhali, Sirajganj and many other places in the country have blocked roads and clashed with policemen.
