President Mohammad Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have congratulated Bangladesh cricket team for starting their World Cup campaign on a winning note by defeating debutant Afghanistan.

“I am hopeful that Bangladesh cricket team will maintain their winning form in their upcoming matches,” the president said in his congratulatory message on Wednesday.
His Press Secretary Ehsanul Karim told bdnews24.com that the president wished more such successes for the Tigers.
In a similar message, the prime minister also hoped that the Tigers would continue their winning streak.
Hasina, who is an avid cricket fan, especially thanked the players, team manager, coach and officials of the Bangladesh Cricket Board for the success, the prime minister’s press wing informed.
“She hopes that Bangladesh cricket team will continue to win matches in the World Cup. Overcoming all odds they will keep the red and green flag of Bangladesh flying high in the World Cup.”
In their opening encounter Bangladesh comprehensively defeated Afghanistan, who played their first World Cup match Wednesday.
