Investigation officer sub-inspector Deepak Kumar filed a plea with court of Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate on Sunday to take the 42-year-old on a seven-day remand.
Magistrate Aminul Haq has fixed Jun 24 for hearing of the remand plea since the accused was not present at the court.
Rony has been sent back to jail after a four-day police remand.
On Apr 13, around 1:45am the MP’s son randomly fired from his car near the capital’s New Eskaton area killing auto rickshaw driver Yakub Alli and rickshaw puller Abdul Halim.
A case was filed by Hakim’s family on Apr 15. On May 31, police arrested Rony and the driver Imran Fakir.
Later on Jun 9, the court granted police four days to question Rony.
Confessional statements given to the court by Rony’s friend Kamal Mahmud, who was in the car during the shooting, and the driver, Imran Fakir, say it was the MP’s son, who fired the shots.
Another friend of Rony, Tiger Kamal, also described the incident to the police, said DMP Joint Commissioner Monirul Islam.
“The CID’s ballistic report reveals that the calibre of bullets found on the victims’ bodies has matched with that of Rony’s pistol,” Islam told a media briefing on Friday.
Rony would be the only one to be charged in the case said Islam, adding that Rony would be asked whether he would give confessional statement at the court.
