However, Ismat Ara Sadek, state minister for public administration, says the government is making "enquiries" about the meeting.
The BNP has rubbished media reports about the Thursday night meeting but the government says it is taking the matter "seriously".
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday said the alleged meeting would be investigated and warned of measures against government officials if they had met Khaleda by violating law.
Sadek on Sunday told reporters that no formal body for investigating the incident was set up as yet but preparations were on.
"It is unexpected from government officials. They cannot breach discipline," she said adding that the government was considering possible administrative steps against them.
She said they were also trying to find out who among the officials took part in the alleged meeting.
"Government officials cannot hold meetings and communicate with politicians in this way. They cannot get themselves involved politically," the state minister added.
