Advance booking on inter-city trains can now be done only five days before the date of journey, according to a new railway ministry rule.

Earlier, tickets could be had 10 days in advance.
The new rule comes into effect from Jun 11, says a ministry statement.
The move is intended to curb a thriving black market in advance tickets, which are purchased only to be sold at a premium.
