Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique said at end of an admission committee meeting on Tuesday that the pass mark for Elective English had been scaled down from 15 to 8, and that of General English from 20 to 18.
The pass marks for the other papers remain unchanged.
If seats lie vacant even after such relaxation, students who have cleared the ‘Gha’ unit test would be inducted to fill them, he said.
But under the scaled-down requirements 17 candidates, who had taken the Elective English test and secured a score of eight, will get admission.
