About 13,000 cleaners, employed by the city corporations, started working from Monday morning.
They aim to remove 44,000 tonnes of waste within 48 hours.
Around 1.8 million cattle are slaughtered across Bangladesh on this day alone.
Holidays of city corporation officials have been cancelled to clean the capital within the shortest possible time.
Officials say they have distributed special polythene bags and bleaching powder to keep odour in control.
DCC North would use a special bacterial spray to remove the bad odour.
Cleaners are collecting waste and sending them to dumping stations.
They are also cleaning the streets after removing waste with germicides and water.
Before the Eid, the DCCs had requested people not to dump animal waste here and there.
