MET warning on Bay of Bengal low

The Meteorological Department has advised to hoist cautionary signal number 3 for Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Mongla ports as a low intensified in the Bay of Bengal.

That has led to huge rains in West Bengal and adjoining areas including some places in Bangladesh over the past 48 hours.

In Kolkata, streets were waterlogged and transport was badly affected due to the heavy rains.

In a forecast, the Met office said squally weather may affect the North Bay, adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh and the maritime ports.

Authorities have been advised to keep hoisting local cautionary signal 3 at the maritime ports until further notice.

Fishing boats and trawlers over have been advised to remain close to the coast.
