Imran H Sarker, convener of the Mancha, announced the programme from their mass rally at the 'Shapla Chattar' in the country's commercial hub Motijheel Wednesday.

He said they would hold overnight sit-in vigil at the Shahbagh intersection, now called 'Prajanma Chatter'.

Imran also urged the countrymen to refuse Thursday’s shutdown called by the Jamaat-e-Islami to press their demands, including release of party leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee facing the war crimes trial.

Earlier in the day, the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 fixed Thursday to deliver its verdict on Jamaat executive member Delwar Hossain Sayedee, facing trial on charges of crimes against humanity during the Liberation War 42 years back.

After two rallies at Rayerbazar Baddhabhumi (mass killing ground) and Mirpur, the youngsters Wednesday held the rally at Motijheel to press for death penalty to all the convicted war criminals and a ban on the Jamaat-Shibir politics.

The rally began at about 3:40 pm with recitation of verses from the holy Quran and religious books of other faiths followed by the national anthem.

Thousands of protesters also observed a one-minute silence in memory of all Liberation War martyrs.
