Khaleda takes Iftar with politicians

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia joins an Iftar feast organised by Bangladesh Jatiya Party

Dhaka, Aug 13 (bdnews24.com)—BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia had an Iftar feast organised by Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP), a small ally.

BJP chairman Andalib Rahman organised the Iftar at Westin Hotel in the city on Saturday.

Andalib and party secretary general Shamim Al Mamun received Khaleda and other guests at the party.

Later, the BNP chief exchanged views with the guests.

Before the Iftar, Andalib condoled the deaths of five people including CEO of ATN News Ashfaque (Mishuk) Munier and award-winning filmmaker Tareque Masud in a road crash at Joka in Ghior Upazila on Dhaka-Aricha highway in Manikganj on Saturday noon.

Those who joined the Iftar in the same table with Khaleda include president of Bikalpadhara Bangladesh A Q M Badruddoza Chowdhury, president of Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Oli Ahmed, acting chief of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Makbul Ahmed, chairman of Khelafat Majlish Bangladesh Maulana Mohammad Ishaq, secretary-general of Islami Oikya Jote (IOJ) Abdul Latif Nezami, president of Jatiya Ganatantrik Party Shafiul Alam Prodhan, secretary general of National People's Party Fariduzzaman Farhad, president of National Awami Party (NAP-Bhasani) Jebel Rahman Gani, acting president of Labour Party Mostafizur Rahman Iran, executive president of Muslim League A H M Kamaruzzaman, president of Islamic party Abdul Mobin and chairman of National Democratic Party Khondaker Golam Mortoza.

It is Khaleda's second Iftar party with Badruddoza. The BNP chairperson hosted an Iftar party on Aug 4 for leaders of different political parties at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city.

President of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) A S M Abdur Rob, LDP secretary general Jahanara Begum, joint secretary general Shahadat Hossain and former state minister for foreign affairs Abul Hasan Chowdhury and some others guests joined the Iftar in another table due to the presence of the Jamaat guests at the main table.

Senior leaders of BNP including party acting secretary-general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, its associate organisations and allies also attended the programme.
