The first session of the 13th Parliament began at 11:05am on Thursday, with the speaker’s seat vacant. The proceedings opened with a recitation from the Quran, after which Prime Minister Tarique Rahman spoke at around 11:15am. At the beginning of his speech, he paid tribute to the martyrs of all the movements and struggles since 1971.
