Women turned out in large numbers at polling stations on Thursday, Feb 12, 2026, for the national election and referendum, with many casting their ballots for the first time alongside older voters.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami chief Shafiqur Rahman cast his vote in the 13th parliamentary election and referendum at the Monipur High School (Boys’ Section) polling centre in Dhaka's Mirpur. After voting, he said he was hopeful about forming a "government of the people”.
BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman cast his vote in the 13th parliamentary election and referendum on Thursday morning at the Gulshan Model High School and College polling centre in Dhaka.

The referendum will be held on the same day as the general election. Ballot papers for the referendum are being dispatched across Dhaka’s 20 constituencies. On Sunday, the papers were sent from the Willes Little Flower School and College polling centre to the assistant returning officers of each constituency.
