The price has been readjusted after a new value-added tax rate was imposed at the import stage
They cite inspections and threats of fines as the reason for supply freeze
The new price, up from Tk 1,253, will take effect from 6pm on Sunday
Instead of the existing 7.5 percent exemption, a 10 percent VAT will now apply at the production stage until Jun 30, 2027
