The rituals of Durga Puja observed by the Sanatan faithful concluded with the immersion of Goddess Durga. The festival, which began with worshipping the goddess at Beltola on the sixth day, came to an end on Thursday with the celebrations of Bijoya Dashami.

Hindu devotees have marked Ashtami, the eighth day of Durga Puja, by worshipping the goddess in the form of a young girl -- a ritual known as Kumari Puja at the Ramakrishna Mission in Dhaka. The Puja is aimed at spreading the teachings of humanity, respect and dignity of women and worship of God.

On the seventh day (Saptami) of the Durga Puja festival, Hindu devotees crowded pavilions with their families, donned in new attire, while children enjoyed rides like ferris wheels and swings near the venues. Security forces maintained strict vigilance to ensure safety during the celebrations.

The Durga Puja festivities began with Chandipath, recitation of scripture, and the installation of a Mangal Ghat at altars across the country, including the Dhakeshwari National Temple, accompanied by the sounding of drums and conch shells to invite the Goddess Durga into the mortal realm.
