Wojciech Szczesny, who previously retired from football in August, has renewed his contract with Barcelona until 2027, the BBC has reported.
The Polish keeper initially signed for Barca two months after announcing retirement, after Blaugrana’s first choice Marc-Andre ter Stegen suffered a season-ending injury.
The 35-year-old won the La Liga and the Copa del Rey in his first season with the Catalan giants. The goalie said that his contract was "recognition and a prize for his great season between the sticks, after an unexpected arrival in a strange context", according to BBC Sport.
The new deal, along with the recent signing of Juan Garcia from Espanyol in June, raises questions surrounding Ter Stegan’s future at Barca.
Szczesny made 30 appearances for Barca after joining last season. He previously played for Italian sides Juventus and Roma, and English sides Arsenal and Brentford.
