The National Citizen Party (NCP) is signing the July National Charter, with a party delegation headed to the State Guest House Jamuna, the official residence of the chief advisor, on Monday evening.

The NCP made the announcement in a media statement on Monday afternoon.

The message said a delegation led by party Convenor Nahid Islam will go to the Jamuna at 6pm to sign the charter.

The delegation will include the party’s Member Secretary Akhter Hossen, Joint Member Secretary Zahirul Islam Musa, and joint conveners Sarwar Tushar, Monira Sharmin and Javed Rasin.

The July National Charter was signed by 25 political parties on Oct 17, 2025, at the South Plaza of the parliament. The signatories also included Muhammad Yunus, chief advisor to the interim government, National Consensus Commission (NCC) Vice-Chairman Ali Riaz, and other members of the commission.

The NCP, composed of many of the frontline activists of the July Uprising, however, did not sign the document at the time.

The Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), the Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BaSaD), the BaSaD (Marxist) and the Bangladesh JSD did not sign it either.

Alongside the parliamentary election on Thursday, a referendum was also held to implement the constitutional proposals in the July National Charter.

The Feb 12 referendum vote saw over 60 percent voter turnout, even higher than the national parliamentary election held that same day.

The “Yes” vote won by an overwhelming majority, providing broad popular backing for the implementation of the July National Charter.
