Lack of overbridges troubles commuters

The construction of a new footbridge equipped with modern escalators has not started nearly a year after the demolition of the old one on Mirpur Road outside Dhaka’s New Market. In its absence, commuters are forced to navigate the bustling road at great risk, using a road divider as a makeshift crossing.

Hazardous road crossings cause frequent accidents in the area but the commuters do so putting their lives at risk. Photo : Mehedi Hasan
