Trees wither, weeds flourish

The Ministry of Environment and Forest put potted plants up at several pedestrian overbridges in Dhaka as part of its ‘Clean Air and Sustainable Environment’ project, but lack of maintenance has resulted in the trees dying out and weeds flourishing in their place.

As winter comes, trees put up for beautification at pedestrian overbridges in Dhaka are dying out. From a distance, the pots look as if they house trees, but up close it is clear that the trees have died out and have been replaced by weeds.Photo: Mahmud Zaman Ovi
